This is great! Welcome to show number 8! I mixed things up pretty good for ya in this one. Enjoy! And don’t forget to tell the artists how much you appreciate their music!

I was on vacation this past week and had the good fortune to meet and hear Eva Tree (this show) and Christie (Aitken) Taylor (#4) do a show in Seattle. They took turns and did a few numbers (including Hurricane) together. It was electric. This week I’ll see the Bay area’s Keith Varon on tour.
Before I started this podcast two months ago, I purposely didn’t listen to many others because I wanted to figure out my own style rather than try to be like someone else. During my time off, I sampled many different podcasts and was surprised to learn there are not many (if any!) podcasts out there that specialize in mainstream, pop music.
One artist I featured recently thanked me for playing his stuff, and said that it was tough for a mainstream, indie musician to get play. “Indie” has come to mean strange and experimental. While I hope that strange and experimental will always be a part of “indie”, mainstream has a place too and I hope Indie Music Sampler helps to establish that place more firmly. I am loving this music and I hope you are too!
Until next time, take care and let the music play …

Each week I wonder if I’ll really find enough good music to do a podcast. Every week I need to decide which ones I can’t play due to lack of time. The talent and quality of music amazes me every time. Here are six good examples.
Matt Turk – Silver Ring – Washington Arms
http://turktunes.com/
Jennifer Avalon – Not For Sale
http://www.jenniferavalon.net/
Brothers in Stereo – The Worst Crowd – Self-titled
http://www.brothersinstereo.com/
Coles Whalen – Ship the Sails the Sea – Gee Baby
http://www.coleswhalen.com/
Mean Gene Kelton and The Die Hards – If this guitar could talk – Most Requested
http://www.genekelton.com/
Delina – Circle of Life – A Found Object
http://myspace.com/delinarissin
You may have noticed that I moved the podcast from Libsyn to Odeo. It was partly because of quota problems and mostly because I’m cheap. For now, Odeo is free of charge and without restrictions. Free is a good price, and freedom is a good position. Thanks Odeo!!
Until next week, take care, and let the music play!

This past week, my son Joe (Joe’s Podcast) and I brought an old eMachine (Celeron 500) out of retirement and built it up as a dedicated podcast-recording station in a quiet bedroom of our condo. Even though we didn’t think it would be powerful enough, it is performing beautifully. This program is the evidence. Thanks for downloading the show and enjoy the music!!
Oland – Time in the Day – 8-Track

Marilyn Scott – Icebox – Innocent of Nothing

Anthony Rankin – What I Live For – Every Part of Me

Larissa – My Monster – Blue

Joshua Scott – Wild, Wild West – Idiolalia

Anonymous American – Don’t be Late – When the Drummer Counts To Four

Have a great week and we’ll see you again soon.
